Wolves Match Postponed

By: Rob Sedgwick
Date: 26/09/2000

As forecasted last week on The Fishy, the league game at Wolves on Friday, October 6th has been postponed due to several Wolves players being on international duty. The game was due to be shown live on Sky, earning the Mariners a much need £20K.

Wolves asked the Football League to postpone the game, as they are entitled to. However, the West Midlands outfit stand to lose over three times as much as the Mariners from the TV money, with the home side getting a larger share of the proceeds. It would be interesting to see what Grimsby would have decided in the same circumstances, although the Mariners currently have no recent international regulars amongst their squad, so the question is therefore academic. The return leg of tonight's game in the Worthington cup is also due to be re-scheduled for the same reasons as the league game.
