Question of the Week

Where will Grimsby finish?

Galli & Handyside Back

By: Rob Sedgwick
Date: 17/08/2000

Left back Tony Gallimore is in the frame for Saturday's long trip to Hampshire to face Pompey, after coming through a reserve game last night at Blundell Park against 3rd division Darlington's second string.

Further good news for Town is that centre back Peter Handyside also played the whole game after a year out through injury and is only 4 or 5 reserve matches from starting again for the Mariner's first team.

Although the Mariners went down 2-1, with two sloppy goals conceded in the first half, the fact that Handyside in particular is now able to play for a full 90 minutes for the reserves after over a year out through injury (sustained in last year's pre-season) is news that can only be good for Town's suffering fans.

Although Handyside will not be available to start games for a while, he is likely to feature on the bench in the near future, maybe even at Fratton Park on Saturday.

Adam Buckley scored Town's goal in the second half with a well-taken penalty.

Town's next reserve game, in the Avon Insurance League Division One, is on the 30th August away at Shrewsbury. All reserve games this season at Blundell Park are free for spectators.
